2012 Olympics

 

History: The last time Britain hosted the Olympics was back in 1908. Great Britain managed to win a total of 146 medals, 56 Gold, 51 Silver and 29 Bronze.

 

Olympic Torch: the torch was officially lit in Olympia, Greece in August 2008. The 2012 committee leaders wanted the torch to be within 30 minutes of every living individual as it takes its route in Great Britain in 2012.

Locality: we are located about 80 miles North of Lower Lea Valley, East London, 1 ½ hours by car (1 hour & 40 minutes by train).

* London-Stanstead International Airport is only 1 hour along the M11, A14 & A11 to Home Hall.

* Broxbourne, Hertfordshire – the White Water Canoe Centre for the Slalom, nearest tube is Epping. 88 miles by car (1hour & 55mins)

* Hadleigh Farm, Essex – the Mountain Bike Venue, 99 miles away and 2 ¼ hrs by car; nearest train is Leigh on Sea.

* The village of Great Hockham, Norfolk, is surrounded by beautiful countryside and peaceful woodlands and only 1 hour from the sea.

Transport: in London, take the underground train to Liverpool Street Railway Station, mainline train to Diss Railway Station, then taxi (or collection) to Home Hall, Great Hockham, Norfolk.
