Things to do from Tigh Tasgaidh

  • Serious hillwalking in the areas of KINTAIL, MORVICH, ARNISDALE, STRATHCARRON and of course the ISLE OF SKYE
  •        
  • Lower level walks/coastal walks.  A beautiful and rich choice from easy strolls to lovely circular routes, caves, ruined villages, rock formations, beaches and waterfall walks. Ask Louise to help find your perfect walk.
  •          
  • Boat trips, wildlife and fishing trips.  Small boat hire 20 minutes away.
  • The castles of EILAN DONAN (on the doorstep - remember to check it out at dusk when the floodlighting comes on.) Also DUNVEGAN castle (1 1/2 hours drive).  the ruins of Armadale castle and Kyleakin.
  •        
  • Ancient Monuments - the bronze age brochs of Glenelg, the ruins of the garrison at Glenelg built after Culloden.  Clearance villages and Dun Fort sites.
  • 3 lovely gardens, closes National Trust 6 miles away, ATTADALE and ARMADALE gardens 40 minutes drive.  The famous INVEREWE gardens just 2 hours drive.
  • Local and good riding school with forest and beach rides (20 minutes away).
  • Guided walks on the National Trust properties of KINTAIL and BALMACARA estate (15 minutes away).
  • Kayaking - from beginner taster sessions to full days with guide/instructor.
  •        
  • Local music, caelaidh nights.
  • Wonderful scenic drives in all directions to experience the wide variety of landscapes the Highlands has to offer.
  • For smaller folk, a newly opened play park in KYLE with mini zip wire, pirate boat, etc.
  • Indoor swimming ppol/steam room/sauna and gym at KYLE.
  • Highland Games - APPLECROSS, LOCHCARRON and PORTREE (July dates).
  • Excellent off road mountain bike trails.
  • Orienteering trails (6 miles area)
  • Pottery/good craft shops and artists' galleries.
  • Some very good places to have a meal. (Ask Louise for recommendations/reservations).
  • Brown trout and salmon fishing.
