Visit Scotland Quality Assurance Grading - 4 star. Beautiful Fife Gardens Bronze Award - 2010 Monksholm House lies in an elevated position 3.5 miles ( by road ) to the West of St.Andrews....a shorter distance as the crow flies, hence the lovely views towards the Eden Estuary Nature Reserve, St.Andrews Bay and local golf courses. There is a private, established garden ( including 100m of herbaceous border ) and a sheltered South facing courtyard. Surrounded by 3m high stone walling, the courtyard retains many original features, is a haven for climbing plants and guests are welcome to sit here, listen to the pond fountain, absorb the silence.....and the evening sunshine ( with a bit of luck ) ! The house is an art-gallery . Many paintings and prints ( including one by Kenneth Murdoch of the Royal and Ancient Golf Club House ) and hand-crafted cards, are for sale. St.Andrews Old Course Hotel and The Kohler Water Spa are a 5 minute drive. The location of Monksholm House permits ease of access to local attractions with the added bonus of tranquility, a beautiful vista and safe parking. Whether golfing, walking, biking, bird-watching, kite-flying, wind-surfing, on a whisky trail or just planning a relaxing holiday, Monksholm House is an ideal location. A warm welcome is assured and particular dietary requirements are catered for. There is wireless Internet access. There are two guest bedrooms, ( double / twin ) each with en-suite facilities, digital -viewing ( a selection of d.v.d's / videos ), a welcome tray, complimentary bathroom items and hairdryer. A travel cot, infant bedding, toys and high chair are available. Guests may use laundry facilities, fridge and microwave (in separate kitchen ) if required. There is lockable storage and drying area for bikes, wet-weather gear, golf clubs etc'. We are unable to take pets. The decor, bedding and towels are largely white. You are requested therefore to leave hair and skin-dying products at home. ( Please refer to the Terms and Conditions page for prices and room details. Special offers will be found on the News Page. ) St.Andrews offers an excellent selection of restaurants and guests will receive a ' free drink voucher ' for some of these. There are places nearer Monksholm where you may dine. These have been tried and tested and are highly recommended by previous guests.
