Plas Gilfachwen has great importance in the
context of the Welsh built heritage. It is
a rare and untouched example of a once
ubiquitous but now scarce Welsh gentry
residence, with the many ancillary buildings
and the estate all of a piece. The villa, a rare
survival of the architect John Nash’s work in
Wales, is a gem in Ceredigion’s Teifi
Valley, once frequented by Dylan Thomas
