We spent a fantastic week at Harsgeir View COttage in July. It was the perfect base to explore the beautiful surroundings of Uig and Bernera. The cottage was spacious and beautifully presented. We definately hope to return soon.

Congratulations
Harsgeir View is the best holiday cottage I've stayed in on 4 visits to Lewis. It's so well-situated for the whole of Lewis. Well-equipped, easy to manage, clean and comfortable, certainly, but also charming. The basket of goodies was quirky and fun; I will be ordering some black puddings for Christmas and I've bought some great, inexpensive gifts from the soap lady. And the CD was the icing on the cake-have added a copy to my collection. Next time I visit the island I won't be looking at any other cottages, as Harsgeir is perfect!

The best little spot
Wake up to a silence no city will ever know. The bleat of a lamb, the brush of wings against the air, a Highland cow chews. Create your own full Scottish breakfast using eggs most local and the Stornoway black pudding provided, click the coffee machine on, use the electric shower, allow your eyes to feast on the magical Lewisian landscape and contemplate the day ahead.
Explore the treasures of the Islands until legs tire and complexion breathes with Atlantic air. Return to the sanctuary of the cottage, run a long hot bath and curl up in front of the television or simply sit outside and watch the sun spill its colours over Harsgeir.
Snuggle in the cottage’s secure warmth and listen to the Hebridean weather thrash the windows happy to know you are indeed on the best little spot on the planet.

Calum's cottage holiday
If you want to escape the rat race and explore the wilds of the Western Isles, there is no better base than Harsgeir View Cottage. Situated only minutes away from beautiful sandy beaches, and scenery to match the best in the world, it offers peace and quiet, and a comfortable home from home.
Wildlife enthusiasts - wake to the song of skylarks and calls of lapwings instead of the roar of commuter traffic. Discover a variety of birdlife now declining elsewhere. We saw snipe, ringed plovers, stonechats, seabirds and many more. We watched enthralled as short-eared owls hunted over Ach Mor and a golden eagle soared above the road to Uig just a few miles away.
Colourful and rare flowers are to be found in the unique wetland/moorland/upland habitat and the variety of rocks and rock formations provide opportunities for anyone interested in geology, painting or photography.
Down the road at Bosta an enthusiastic local guide made it easy to imagine the hard existence of the people inhabiting the Iron Age house, now beautifully restored. The fascinating history of the islands is evident all around.
Last but not least, the friendly welcome we received from all the islanders and the chance to chill out in this very special place has ensured that we will definitely be returning to Harsgeir.

The best of holidays
What a super cottage, so well equipped and immaculately clean!

Thank you Calum for enabling us to have such a super time. We loved the cottage and Bernera, and found it an ideal spot for lazy days enjoying local things or for exploring further afield.

Great to meet you, and thank you for all the wee treats you'd left for us.

Hoping to see you again,

With best wishes,

Thea, Peter, and Lachie the Scottish terrier.
